May 22 - Lima Sightseeing - Day one

Anjali and Sudhir Kothari joined in Lima, Peru on the night of May 21, 2015. We started our trip together in Lima on the morning of May 22.

At plaza De armas, also known as plaza mayor, in the heart of Lima, Peru. The Plaza Mayor or Plaza de Armas of Lima, is the birthplace [1] of the city of Lima, as well as the core of the city. Located in the Historic Centre of Lima, it is surrounded by the Government Palace, Cathedral of Lima, Archbishop's Palace of Lima, the Municipal Palace, and the Palace of the Union.







Lunch at el paraiso De la salud, a vegetarian restaurant one block from plaza mayor. Great food. We had some warm guava drink. It was quite good. Also instead of water, they serve warm special tea.



Lima Cathedral. The Basilica Cathedral of Lima is a Roman Catholic cathedral located in the Plaza Mayor of downtown Lima, Peru. Construction began in 1535, and the building has undergone many reconstructions and transformation since. It retains its colonial structure and facade. It is dedicated to St John, Apostle and Evangelist.






Plaza San Martin in Lima, Peru. The Plaza San Martín is one of the most representative public spaces of the city of Lima, Peru. It is located at the ninth block of Colmena avenue, within the Historic Centre of Lima which was declared a World Heritage Site in 1988 by UNESCO. It is located near the Plaza Mayor of Lima and is connected to it by the Jiron de la Union. Its central monument gives homage to Peru's liberator, José de San Martín. 

José Francisco de San Martín y Matorras (25 February 1778 – 17 August 1850), known simply as José de San Martín (Spanish pronunciation: [xoˈse ðe san marˈtin]), was an Argentine general and the prime leader of the southern part of South America's successful struggle for independence from the Spanish Empire. He is revered in many places in South America.

At parque De agua (water park), a must see park in Lima. Beautiful landscaping and fantastic fountains. They also have a synchronized water fountain show. Must see. Went there after dark

The Park of the Reserve or the Parque de la Reserva in Spanish is a park located in downtown Lima, in Peru. Built in an irregular shape, it is located between two of the city's principal streets, the Paseo de la Republica expressway and Arequipa Avenue.
