This blog describes the tour by Samir, Anuradha, Aditya, Sahil Palnitkar and Sudhir and Anjali Kothari.

The Palnitkar family started its tour of South America from the United States on May 19. Samir flew in from San Francisco, Aditya flew in from Austin. Anuradha and Sahil joined from Washington DC. We all converged on Panama City.

Outside tocumen airport, Panama city. I had 4 hours between flights. So I decided to take public transport and go to the city Here are photos of Panama city airport.

When I was landing at Panama City airport, I took a picture of the Panama Canal. I really wanted to see the canal, but I did not get the time. The Panama Canal (Spanish: Canal de Panamá) is a 77.1-kilometre (48 mi) ship canal in Panama that connects the Atlantic Ocean (via the Caribbean Sea) to the Pacific Ocean. The canal cuts across the Isthmus of Panama and is a key conduit for international maritime trade. There are locks at each end to lift ships up to Gatun Lake, an artificial lake created to reduce the amount of excavation work required for the canal, 26 metres (85 ft) above sea level. The current locks are 33.5 metres (110 ft) wide. A third, wider lane of locks is currently under construction and is due to open in 2016.

Here are some scenes from Panama city. I did not get enough time to visit the canal. I just took a quick trip by bus into the city and back. I did not have enough time to visit downtown.

These are private buses in Panama city. They stop at public bus stops and pick up passengers. Cost is 50 cents per ride. US dollar is the default currency in Panama. They call it balboa locally but it is simply the US currency.

Anuradha, Aditya Palnitkar and Sahil Palnitkar joined me in Panama city. We took the Copa Airlines flight from Panama City to to the Amazon Rainforest in Iquitos, Peru.

Landing in Iquitos, Peru. See a view of the Amazon Rainforest. Just greenery everywhere. You will see a meandering river through the rainforest.

Exciting start to the trip

  1. When tourists plan a vacation to Peru they tend to skip over Lima. Instead of planning a Lima vacation they'll look at Cuzco with Machu Picchu nearby, or the Amazon jungles of Iquitos to satisfy touristic curiosity. Lima isn't even given a second thought. For tourists Lima is simply used as a stop-off point at the international airport before heading off to the more publicized attractions that Peru has to offer.tour a iquitos desde lima

  2. Spain has several tourist spots in all the major cities, provinces and villages. Spain has wonderful beaches, snow peaked mountains, friendly people, active night life, relaxed lifestyle, monuments, museums, great architecture and modern facilities. It is one of the most tourist visited countries of Europe due to its mixture of history and modernity. The weather in Spain is pleasant and various modes of transportation are available to travel conveniently from one place to another.
